Data Science for the Public Good Program Launched
IstasyonTEDU in cooperation with Kodluyoruz, TED University Center of Applied Data Science and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has launched Data Science for the Public Good Program. The training program started on March 28th, bringing together 25 participants from various disciplines and will continue for 12 weeks to build capacity for addressing social problems by using data science. The Second Cycle of the Data Science Program for Social Good Has Been Completed!
The second cycle of the Data Science for the Public Good program designed by the University of Virginia, which started in November 2020, was completed with the sharing of project presentations in Turkey. We Code the Ankara leg, CADS @ TEDU – Applied Data Science Center and IstasyonTEDU Social Innovation Center The program is funded by the United States Embassy. Yenimahalle Metropolitan Municipality, Nilüfer Municipality and Evreka also supported the program by providing data and mentorship.
In order to better understand social and environmental problems and to develop effective solutions to these problems with data science, 33 participants from many different disciplines such as engineering, economic and administrative sciences, science and social sciences were given 140 hours of “Data Science and Social Impact Oriented Project Development” training; They were supported to frame their projects with road map meetings. At the end of the program, five groups shared their projects for different social problems with the event held on March 25.
